Turas dhan Òban airson co-latha brèith sònraichte/ A trip to Oban for a special birthday

Chaidh sinn uile dhan Òban an-diugh.  Bha sinn a' ruith nam bùithtean an toiseach, a' lorg phreasantan airson mo mhàthair - 's e an co-latha brèith aice a bhios ann a-màireach, nuair a bhios i 80 bliadhna dh'aois.  Ach an-diugh, bha sinn uile a' dol a-mach airson bìdh gu Piazza anns an Òban.  

We all went to Oban today.  We started by attacking the shops, searching for presents for my Mum - it's her 80th birthday tomorrow.  Today, though, we were all going out for lunch at Piazza in Oban.




Fhuair sinn biadh air leth math mar as àbhaist agus abair spòrs a bh' aig na balaich cuideachd.  Tha iad an dùil 's an dòchas gum bi partaidh ann a-màireach, ach chan eil mi cinnteach gum bi Seanmhair ag aontachadh le sin!  Chì sinn co-dhiù!

We had excellent food as always and the boys had great fun too.  They're really hoping that there will be a big party tomorrow, but I'm not so sure that my Mum will share their enthusiasm!  We'll see!

February Cèilidh

Last night saw the first of Comunn Gàidhealach an Òbain's winter cèilidhs.   It was this year's Buffet Ceilidh, usually held in January, but postponed this year due to clashes with other events.   After much food preparation, setting up of tables and so on, people started to congregate at Oban's Masonic Hall for 7.30pm.   Colin and I sold tickets at the door, so we had a great chance to see everyone – good to catch up with lots of friends, many of whom we hadn't seen for a while.   We were, of course, ably 'assisted' by Ealasaid, Alasdair and Ruairidh…at various points throughout the night, we offered all three of them as raffle prizes, but strangely, no one seemed to think we were serious!   There was a good sized crowd, who all enjoyed a buffet meal, followed by a ceilidh.   The crowd was wonderfully entertained by Alastair MacDonald on accordion, Aaron Hossein on pipes and singers Robert Robertson, Freddie MacKenzie and Riona MacCormick.   Everyon...
